We had a blessed Easter with family and friends celebrating our Risen Lord.  It was such a treat to have ALL our kiddos home and even a few extra.  The pic above of our table shows the calm before the storm.  I think this is the first year I actually gave in and used paper and plastic plates. GASP!!!  I know…  I couldn’t believe it either.  But as I was setting up the table Saturday night I didn’t want to spend my time on Easter hand washing all those china dishes.  It’s okay to take a break some years and as our family continues to grow and move out our time with all of them here together is priceless.

But just because I wasn’t using the “real” china didn’t mean it couldn’t be creative and pretty.  I dug out Spring paper plates I had picked up on clearance because they were so pretty and used them as chargers and then placed clear plastic plates (left over from Nicole’s wedding) on top.  And if you saw my instagram you saw the quick and easy paper nests I made up.

Seriously, how adorable are these!!!

To make this idea even quicker I could have used Easter grass, but I didn’t have any on hand and didn’t want to run out to the store.  So I decided it was quicker to make it!  I went to my studio and sliced some retired Designer Series Paper into thin strips and then ran it through my paper crimper.  Ta-Da!  Easter grass in any color you want!!!

Nadia and I simply rolled them up into little nests, added little chocolate malt eggs and I hand scripted sweet little notes and placed them upon each plate.  Then we finished off the table by rolling up matching paper napkins (yes, instead of clothe this year) and placed them in each glass.  Done!  These would be great for any Spring tablescape including Mother’s Day.

So instead to spending time washing china we got to decorate Easter eggs.  A much better use of our time I would say.  Here are a few of our dyed and sharpied masterpieces.  I love how the the ombre ones turned out.  How about you?

So here is whole Haines Tribe with a few extra.  This is as good as it gets right here!  Love them ALL so much!  They are each growing up so quickly and into really great people.  Time just seems to speed by so quickly these days.  I really wish I could slow it all down a bit.  But since I can’t I will be thankful and more intentional with the time we all have together.  My heart is so happy and full and my thoughts and prayers are with those who are missing dear loved ones on this first Easter without them.
