Bible Journaling

I’ve always been a note taker. There’s just something about having a pen or pencil in my hand and recording what I hear or experience that just brings things alive for me. I have notebooks and journals full of hand scribbled notes, ideas, and doodles. It’s fun to see that a couple of my kids are drawn to the same creative process and desire.

Although I’ve always taken notes during church sermons and Bible studies but I’ve not really journaled onto the pages of my Bible other than the typical underlining and a few quick notes in the margin. I had always saved my thoughts for recording in a separate notebook or journal. But thanks to fellow artist Stephanie Ackerman I’ve been introduced to a whole new world of actually doing creative journaling IN my Bible. My favorite new group on Facebook is the Journaling Bible Community organized by artist Shanna Noel. It has changed the way I come to God’s Word each day. Continue reading →

Mixed Media Canvas “HOUSE” Class

Hello friends… I am so excited about my very first Mixed Media Canvas Class that I will be teaching next week. I do still have a few spots available and would love to have you join me.

Class takes place in my studio on Wed July 30th
~at 10am OR 6:30pm.

Learn the art of mixed media to create a beautiful piece of art to hang in your home or to give as a gift. You will be able to customize your canvas with whatever title and/or verse you’d like… such as Family “name” est date, etc. This one has, “As For Me And My House, We Will Serve The Lord.” ~ Joshua 24:15. Let me know if you have a specific title, verse or phrase you’d like to use when registering.

Class fee only $30
Please let me know right away if you’d like to join us so I can have enough supplies on hand.

Trust the Journey…

Have you ever heard it said… “Years from now you will wish you would have begun the journey today.”

Well TODAY is the day!

I’ve been wanting to start a blog for years but always found a reason that it was just not the right time. If I was honest with myself I would have just admitted that it was FEAR that paralyzed me. I kept hearing that small yet loud VOICE inside me saying…

you don’t have time… you won’t be able to keep up with it… you are not techie enough… you are not creative enough… you are not a writer… you don’t have anything relevant to share… no one is going to read what you write… no one cares…

I could go on and on. But TODAY I choose to start on this journey… The simple step of beginning has been a journey in and of itself filled with some very special time with Brave woman from across the nation and I will share more about that at another time. But I was nudged most recently after reading Jo Ann Fore’s book “When a Woman Finds Her Voice”. I came to the realization that it’s not about me! Imagine that! It’s about sharing life together, sharing our stories, growing, learning, encouraging, creating and seeking true beauty together. I’m stepping out in FAITH… and admittedly stepping out in a bit of fear, but stepping out non the less. I am going to TRUST the journey as the Lord guides me along my given path. I am so excited to see where it leads and the friendships I will make along the way. So I welcome you to come along with me on this journey of living a creative life and I ask for grace as I learn something totally new to me while doing so. Blessings & Happy Journey! Anita Haines
